London Design Festival 2008

Caravan presents Flower Power for this year's design festival - in conjunction with the launch of our new shop in Shoreditch.

Flower Power sees an amazing array of floral inspired designs that include painterly hand-tufted wool rugs by Parisian artist Nathalie Lete, bespoke hand-printed work by wallpaper artist Deborah Bowness, bugged out recycled floral ceramics by Lou Rota, and botanical decorated vintage seating by Holly Wood and Folk.

Caravan's signature vintage floral fabrics adorn dressmaker's mannequins, and quirky offerings such as unusual metal rose bouquets sit in glass display domes.

As ever, Caravan will be lit by a selection of brightly painted metal lamps by French manufacturers Jielde.

Moveable Feast / 'EAST' Festival March 2008

Caravan presented the 'Moveable Feast' for Spitalfield's 'Taste' event for EAST festival 2008. Sinister black crows ate ceramic cupcakes from insect plates in the vintage Citroen van where shop owner Emily Chalmers dished up signed copies of her book, 'Table Settings'.

H-Van at Caravan / London Design Festival Sept 2007

The Caravan Citroen H-van - a vintage automobile design classic - was parked outside the shop, exhibiting specially commissioned work for the festival. Bespoke wall papers by artist Deborah Bowness were featured alongside vintage chairs and plates decorated by designer Lou Rota. Sinister black crows and unusual metal flowers adorned the van and the event also featured our exclusive vintage fabric mannequins.

7 Exhibition Road / Brompton Show Window Project

In support of the ‘Surreal Things’ exhibition at The V&A, Brompton Estates invited Caravan to create an installation in a Kensington shop unit. The installation ran through April and May 2007 and all products shown were for sale. www.bromptonquarter.com

Deborah Bowness / London Design Festival 2006

Deborah Bowness created a 14m long installation of 2d ‘room sets’ directly alongside Caravan and, in her signature printed wallpaper style, designed bespoke temporary signage for the shop.

The launch of the ‘Deborah Bowness at Caravan’ project coincided with London Design Festival, September 2006, and put Old Spitalfields Market on the Icon Design Trail. The signage remained in place for the duration of the main building works at Old Spitalfields Market.

All images displayed within the ‘2d roomsets’ are available as 3.5m wallpaper drops from Caravan. With special thanks to Ballymore Properties Ltd. and Trad scaffolding for facilitating the project.
