Emily Edits - what’s catching my eye ✨
Welcome to Emily Edits
Happy New Year!
This is my first Emily Edits post, and a gentle way to open the door to my world again. Here, I’ll be sharing a small, considered curation of things that have caught my eye.
Clockwise from top left:
Knit of Dreams
I recently discovered the work of Gemma Shepherd, whose studio pieces are designed and made in-house using Scottish-spun superfine lambswool, with an attention to craft that’s immediately felt. As I write, I’m wearing Gemma’s Breton rib scarf, less an accessory and more a piece of clothing that quietly earns its place - soft, warm and grounding on my shoulders.
There’s a clarity to Gemma’s work I’m drawn to: thoughtful, meticulously finished, and informed by art without feeling overstated. It’s the kind of design that feels striking and timeless at once. I find myself returning to explore the Shepherd archive, curious about what might reveal itself next, and I’ll be noting more from Gemma’s world here in time - she has many more strings to her bow!
Runaway Love
This is the hand-woven merino wool Zoey jacket, though I could have chosen any piece from Runaway Bicycle to pin here.
I’m drawn to the quiet intelligence in Preeti Verma’s work, clothing born from a personal need for comfort, crafted with respect for traditional weaving techniques and the skill of artisans across India. The pieces feel lived-in yet considered, light in fabric but rich in detail - garments and accessories that feel at home in the everyday, yet carry a timeless presence.
Zoey is a reminder that thoughtful design doesn’t need to shout; it whispers and honours comfort and craftsmanship. I love the way each item in the collection is listed with a poetic snippet 🤍
Moon Space
I’m spending time honouring my spiritual side this year, and Moon Space feels like the perfect container for that - a chance to pause, zoom out, and connect with the cycles of the moon.
Guided by High Priestess and author Tree Carr, this global digital gathering, held by the She’s Lost Control digital portal, meets every new and full moon for meditation, intention setting, Tarot guidance, and magical practice. It’s a space to centre, reflect, and be held in collective care - a reminder that even amidst the busy-ness of life, there’s room to slow, notice, and nurture your own path.
Florence, One Day
I’ve been dreaming of a day in Florence since Tess Sullivan, a vintage aficionado whose Substack, “What’s Mine Is Yours”, I adore, shared a post mapping out the city’s best vintage shops and antique spots. I imagine wandering the streets, hunting for treasures, and pausing for coffee, wine, and nibbles along the way.
The city is full of incredible stores, and the fun lies in tracing Tess’s path, letting each hidden gem reveal itself. A day here would be pure delight, and it’s now firmly on my bucket list.
Camiel Fortgens
I’m drawn to the simplicity of Camiel Fortgens’ work: “unisex, reconstructed and unpolished garments. Interpretations of archetypal clothing, executed to form perfectly imperfect handmade pieces”.
There’s a confident ease likely due to Camiel not having studied at fashion school - he’s a graduate from Design Academy Eindhoven. Each piece is meticulously handmade, embracing the perfectly imperfect and unpolished, yet utterly considered - qualities that make noticing a quietly inspiring experience. CF’s ponyskin saddle bag would look as good hanging on my wall as my arm! Pop into Camiel’s world here.
Thank you for visiting. The door is open.
