Wabi Sabi
February 28, 2018
Creating a warm atmosphere and living with beautiful pieces is the ultimate goal, isn’t it? Decorating with intention has always been of interest to me. In the current wave of paring down the general clutter while investing in quality, I find myself revisiting Axel Vervoordt’s iconic interior style and considering that all-important wabi-sabi.
Vervoordt’s influential tome, his and his collaborator, Tatsuro Miki’s, take on this simple yet cosy aesthetic, “Wabi Inspirations”, is a timeless illustration of the beauty of the perfectly imperfect.
The latest issue of ELLE Decoration looks at “Stories and Reflections”, Vervoordt’s new autobiographical book, which I have just added to my reading list. “Live with great pieces casually, and with grace.”
