Christmas at Caravan (& posting dates)

    Posted on December 11, 2023

Thank you for all your orders over this festive season!

Whilst we have a much reduced selection in the shop this year, there are still some really special pieces in there…. Nathalie Lete’s beautiful silk scarves continue to be popular and we still have good stock (and a few designs that haven’t yet made it onto the website – whoops!), so do peruse/get in touch if you think these beautiful works of art might be just what you’re looking for. Each scarf is lovingly wrapped by moi (and I adore wrapping), ready to hand over to a very lucky recipient.

I’m also enjoying wrapping a good few of the Caravan classics. Think white rabbit lamps ideal for all ages and spaces, original Kaymet trays guaranteed to elevate your hosting this holiday, along with baby deer (who couldn’t resist a group of these little guys?!) and miniature deer heads – fauxidermy at its best, non?

Right, on to those posting dates….

    Happy New Year

    Posted on January 7, 2019

Happy new year! I hope you’ve been enjoying 2019 so far and the year ahead is set to be a good one. I love the promise a new January can bring – and trust our shiny thoughts don’t tarnish too quickly 😉

  • Lee Krasner Icarus 1964

    Lee Krasner, Living Colour

    Posted on October 31, 2018

The Barbican will be celebrating the work and life of Lee Krasner in their Art Gallery next year. I relish any chance I get to visit that amazing Brutalist estate – to immerse myself in some Abstract Expressionism while I’m there will be AMAZING!

Details of the upcoming exhibition (30th May – 1st Sept) appeared in my inbox alongside this image of Krasner’s “Icarus”. This fascinating painting inspired me to dive into my silk scarf collection and plan out a few more drapes for the shop. Isn’t it great when art inspires creativity just like that. I wonder if Lee ever had any idea how many billions of people her work has and will continue to touch in this way.

  • Golden Day

    Posted on February 1, 2018

It’s Golden Day today, a much anticipated yearly event when the children can choose which creative activities they’d like to enjoy, for a more relaxed, fun school day.

As I dropped an excited Bunty off this morning she said “You can have Golden Day today too, mummy”. After initially dismissing the idea, I thought again and decided I can have a Golden Day! I still have the same to-do list but I’ve approached my schedule with a Golden Day attitude, and it’s going well.

I’ve decided to treat myself to a golden bunny today too, to mark the occasion. He shall sit on a window ledge until I’ve saved enough for him to multi-task as a useful door stop.

  • Showroomisation

    Posted on January 25, 2018

I’ve just returned from the Maison & Objet trade salon in Paris where it’s always interesting to see various key trends (urgh, that word!) highlighted and predicted for the year to come. This year it’s all about the exhibitionist approach to home decoration.

According to Vincent Grégoire, Director of M&O’s partner trend-forecasting agency Nelly Rodi, the modern day consumer seeks refuge from reality through ‘story-living’ and ‘showroomisation’.

Enabled by the internet, the consumer can learn, buy, and curate. And then show off. The consumer is now the art-director, the ‘prosumer’. The new design professionals, the new opinion-leaders.

  • My Selection

    Posted on July 12, 2015

Home stylists and decor-lovers out there will know the thrill of the hunt and have I found a great hunting ground!

Joss & Main offer curated selections of furniture and accessories at generous prices for limited-time sales. They also love to collaborate and they’ve asked me to pick out a few pieces that fit with my signature style.

Whether I’m creating mood-boards for my dream home or planning a new project, I’m always on the look out for comfy chairs to sink into, graphic rugs for underfoot, super lighting, splashes of colour and a bit of quirkiness thrown in on the accessories side.

Here’s a taster of my selection – and just look at that chair! Note their curated site is for members only so you’ll need to sign in for the bargains (it’s free and your preferences can be easily updated at any time, so there’s always the chance to just dip a toe in).

    See you there!

ps if you’re into pinning you’ll have a field day on this site – perfect material for those boards….
